There has been plenty of drama lately surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders and their minority owner, Tom Brady. And let's just say you may want to steer clear of any Starbucks coffee shops right now.
The rumors of Matthew Stafford, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, to be traded to the Raiders are really starting to heat up. The heat initially started to rise when Stafford "ran into" Brady at a ski resort in Montana, as if that sort of thing just happens on the regular. Two reporters and insiders debated on whether it was a run-in or intentional, and then basically got into an altercation at a Starbucks.
The Raiders are definitely pursuing Stafford, that's not being disputed. They have a major need at the most important position in all of sports, and the Los Angeles Rams made it known that they were okay with QB Matthew Stafford searching for a trade while the two sides dispute a contract matter.
Stafford wants $50 million. The Raiders have all the cap space in the world this year, and draft capital to trade. At this point, it feels like the Raiders are willing to do whatever it takes to land Stafford, even if it means they do a bit of tampering.
Or are they?
"There’s no issue here. The Los Angeles Rams gave the player and his agent permission to speak to the Las Vegas Raiders."
That message was shared by the NFL on Thursday just to clear the air when everything happened. Some believe that the reporter who said the incident was a "run-in" by Brady and Stafford, said that to protect Brady from tampering. But, now it appears that maybe they did run into each other, as crazy as it sounds. Because, well, why else would he lie about it if it wasn't tampering?
Who knows, really, but what we do know is that Brady and Stafford have indeed spent some time together. And, things are heating up. Between now and free agency, things are going to get pretty interesting.
2025 could see the Las Vegas Raiders finally making the right choice in the NFL Draft
The Raiders would do that in a heartbeat.
