The Philadelphia Eagles have found the perfect replacement for cornerback Isaiah Rodgers.
According to Fox Sports' NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles have signed former Giants cornerback Adoree' Jackson.
"Former #Giants CB Adoree' Jackson is signing with the #Eagles, I’m told. Jackson has started 82 career games and adds experience and depth to Philadelphia’s secondary," Schultz wrote on X.
The move comes after the Eagles lost not only Rodgers to the Minnesota Vikings but also Darius Slay to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jackson agreed to a bargain deal with the Birds, signing a one-year, $2.5 million deal. Meanwhile, Rodgers left for a two-year, $10 million deal with the Vikings, and Slay signed a one-year contract worth $15 million.
Jackson, 29, was originally a first-round pick out of USC back in 2017 and spent the first four years of his career with the Tennessee Titans before joining the Giants.
In his eight NFL seasons so far, Jackson has seen action in 97 games with 82 starts. He has four interceptions, 61 pass breakups and 10 tackles for loss. He also has plenty of experience on punt and kick return, similar to Rodgers.
Since Slay and Rodgers are both out of the picture, what the Eagles do at outside cornerback remains to be seen.
Of course, they are already counting on rising second-years Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to step up, but not having to move DeJean out of the slot would be huge for Philly's No. 1-ranked secondary.
That means Jackson could slide into a starting job, but he will still need to prove himself and beat out both Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks throughout training camp.
In addition to Jackson, the Eagles have also signed running back A.J. Dillon, pass rusher Josh Uche, and tight end Harrison Bryant in NFL free agency,
