If the Ohio State Buckeyes recruit a player hard they are normally in the mix in the end. Ryan Day and his staff have continued the top level of recruiting since taking over for Urban Meyer over a half-decade ago.

In each and every class, the Buckeyes take big swings at landing the best players. Chris Henry Jr. is the big fish for the Buckeyes in the class of 2026 where their focus is primarily.

Ohio State has put some resources toward the class of 2027 as well. The Buckeyes are set to receive a spring visit from the son of an NFL legend.

2027 LB Cooper Witten will be in Columbus on March 21 visiting the Buckeyes, a day after he visits Michigan. Other spring visits for the son of former Dallas Cowboys tight end and 11-time Pro Bowler Jason Witten will be Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Clemson, SMU, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.

Witten is the No. 1 safety in the class of 2027 and the No. 25 overall player, per 247 Sports Composite. The five-star safety plays his high school ball at Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Witten is an impressive defender, which is ironic considering his dad was one of the better tight ends the game of football has seen.

Whether Ohio State will have a track change in this recruitment or not is yet to be seen. Getting Witten to campus is a big step, where he will get to continue building a relationship with Ryan Day and the staff. Being a 2027 recruit, Witten has 19 offers right now but that number will probably double when it is all said and done. Ohio State hasn’t offered Witten yet, but that could change later in the month.

So far programs like Auburn, Oregon, Tennesse, Michigan, and USC have extended offers to the star prospect. It is a bit wild to believe that Jason Witten’s son isn’t far off from being a college football player. Jason wrapped up his 17-year playing career in 2020 with the Las Vegas Raiders.
