The Los Angeles Rams are gearing up for the 2025 NFL Draft, aiming to make back-to-back picks in the first round of a draft since 2015-16. With the 26th overall pick in tow, the Rams are sending the house in terms of getting the pick right, and they could turn to a familiar place for another first-round selection.
The Rams were present at Florida State's pro day on Friday, March 21st. They've targeted the Seminoles pretty frequently over the last few drafts, with notable high picks in running back Cam Akers, pass rusher Jared Verse, and defensive tackle Braden Fiske.
They could be aiming to make another one from Florida State this season, as Seminole cornerback Azareye'h Thomas has been heavily mocked to the Rams throughout the offseason.
In The Athletic's latest mock, they explained why Thomas makes sense for the Rams:
"Thomas is a long corner with good range who gives the Rams the size they badly need in their secondary, to pair on the outside with veteran Darious Williams (even though veteran starter Ahkello Witherspoon is back under contract for another season). Cobie Durant could move into the slot full-time with the selection of Thomas, who adds youth and talent to the DB room to match much of the rest of the defense."
While who the Rams sent to the pro day isn't known, I can confirm that they were present there. Thomas makes plenty of sense as a target for the Rams.
What makes this even more intriguing is the lack of other notable names testing at Florida State's Pro Day. It's more likely than not that Thomas is the only Seminole who will be drafted next month, so the Rams sending a contingent to see him in-person feels noteworthy.
The Rams could simply be covering their bases and visiting the Pro Day of a relatively successful major program, as any NFL team should do. However, given the links to a prominent prospect here already, this is one to keep an eye on moving forward.
