Kyren Williams may have given us our first look at what’s really ailing the Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams entered 2026 with sky-high expectations. One postgame answer after the Week 6 loss to Arizona may finally hint at the source of trouble beneath the surface.
The Los Angeles Rams have a strong case as the most disappointing team in football through the first six weeks. Los Angeles sits at 2-4 after a collapse against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. The Rams’ offense sputtered again, and the frustration is starting to show.
It’s a pretty surreal turn of events for the preseason Super Bowl favorite. But what actually gives? After the loss to the Cardinals, Rams running back Kyren Williams may have handed us our first real clue into what is ailing this group.

“I can’t tell you, bro. Probably because I’m not out there.”

Ah. There it is! Williams had all the right things to say in this exchange with the mediato start: being in a storm, staying the course, and so on. But then, a quick peek into something else. Whether Williams was saying that the energy of the huddle is up and down because he isn’t out there all the time or he’s saying that he couldn’t tell you what is happening when he’s not out there — it’s not a flattering comment either way.
To be fair, one postgame answer doesn’t mean the locker room is fractured. Players get frustrated after losses, and Williams’ comment came in the immediate aftermath of a collapse against a team Los Angeles was expected to handle. If that’s the case, a couple of wins could quiet all of this down quickly.
But this is now officially teetering on the brink. Discontent regarding being on or off the field? That’s a troubling development for McVay. His Rams program has been one of the best player development and culture programs in all of football for years. With expectations sky high, we’re getting some clues of the ‘disease of me’. McVay and his staff need to diagnose this and attack it head on. And at 2-4, they better figure it all out fast.
