After missing the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season, the Ohio State Buckeyes badly need a fix for things.

Ohio State is reportedly set to hit the transfer portal hard and they should. The Buckeyes have been connected to multiple players already, including Indiana G Gabe Cupps. However, things will pick up more this week as the portal is officially open as of today.

With Texas hiring Sean Miller away from Xavier, many eyes are on what happens with that roster in southern Ohio. Ohio State F Devin Royal has his eyes on one player and it makes a ton of sense if he decides to enter the portal.

Xavier’s Dailyn Swain would be a no-brainer for the Buckeyes if he enters the portal

Swain’s Instagram post from over the weekend was quickly filled with Xavier fans hoping he would stay and other fans hoping he would end up at the school they root for. Buckeye Nation quickly recognized that Royal commented on the picture and screenshots of it floated around X.

“ostate sound really good,” Royal commented.

Devin Royal’s comment on Dailyn Swain’s Instagram post.

Ohio State offered Swain out of high school, where he was a four-star recruit. Swain ended up signing with Xavier and it was one that Ohio State should have never let get away. The 6-foot-8 small forward played in 29 games as a true freshman in 2023 where he averaged 4.3 points per game.

This past season is where Swain took his game to the next level. The talented sophomore averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 33 starts for Xavier. Swain scored 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting against Illinois in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Ohio State needs to add a bit of everything to their roster, to be honest. Swain would bring length, scoring ability, and defense to the lineup for the Buckeyes. If he is to enter the portal, he should become a top priority for the Buckeyes.
