Right now, the Pittsburgh Steelers have all their chips in on Aaron Rodgers.
But should his wish be granted, he will be wearing Purple and Gold as opposed to Black and Gold.
So if Rodgers heads to the white north to join the Minnesota Vikings, the Steelers will be forced to decide if Mason Rudolph and rookie is a suitable option, or if bringing in another veteran is the move.
And according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, one long-time rival could be favored over Russell Wilson if they go said route…
Steelers Would sign Flacco over Russell Wilson?
"I think there are people there that would rather have Joe Flacco than Russell Wilson," Breer said on Sports Illustrated's YouTube channel.
A first in the ongoing saga that is the Steelers QB race, Flacco to the Steelers would undoubtedly be a an interesting move.
Of course, many remember Flacco as the starter of the Baltimore Ravens for years, even winning a Super Bowl for the longtime rival. In recent years, he saw a career resurgence with the Cleveland Browns, where he led them to the playoffs in the 2023-2024 season.
Last year, however, Flacco was a member of the Indianapolis Colts, and despite the team trying to shoehorn him into the starting lineup to teach Anthony Richardson, Flacco struggled.
But that doesn't mean he won't have a market…
As a quartet of teams in need of veteran quarterbacks consider options that include a couple of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks who were once the highest-paid players in the NFL, a third one who checks the same two boxes could end up being a prime fallback option for one of them.
Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are getting the headlines. Joe Flacco is waiting patiently to see how it plays out.
Flacco recently visited the Giants. He’s in play, we’re told, for jobs with the Steelers, Browns, and Vikings.

The Steelers can only sit on their hands for so long. If Aaron Rodgers goes anywhere but Pittsburgh, Russell Wilson heads to a different team, and the team decides Mason Rudolph isn't their best course of action, they will have to make a move.
If that move is Joe Flacco, then boy oh boy, it's going to be an intriguing season in Pittsburgh, that much is certain.
