The Detroit Lions needed edge rusher help in 2024 after losing Aidan Hutchinson in Week 6. They went out and signed veteran defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad who had been released by the Cowboys a few weeks earlier to their practice squad. They elevated him right away and he made a difference.

In 10 games Muhammad racked up 26 pressures and three sacks and he proved to be a solid run stopper as well. Lions fans were really hoping that he would be back in Detroit in 2025 and the Lions are making that happen. They have signed him to a one-year deal.

Muhammad is going to be a solid rotational piece for the Lions in 2025. If he can continue to bring a pass rush, which he hadn't really been known for previous to last year, he can carve out a really good spot for himself in Detroit.

Obviously, this does not mean that the Lions are done in the edge. They may look to add another veteran ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft and then they may look to add one or two pieces in the draft.

The Lions line is a lot better than a good amount of the fans believe it to be. Bringing back someone who had such a good season for the Lions last year is only going to make it better.
