The Las Vegas Raiders are ready for the 2025 NFL Draft because they are completely changing the order of their priorities. And, this has happened a few times now, too. It's gone from QB to RB to something potentially different at No. 6.
It still feels like Ashton Jeanty may be the pick at No. 6 when the Raiders go on the clock. But, some recent news has definitely shifted a bit of the thinking there. The Raiders already had a need at the cornerback position, where I could see them taking on before Day 3.
Now, they really need one.
According to Vinny Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Raiders are actively working to trade starting cornerback Jack Jones. Now, whether it will end up happening or not is a different story. He had a lot of issues last season, whether it was effort and being called out for not trying to make tackles, or whether it was just having a busted coverage player far too often.
But, Jones has a lot of potential, and just like getting signed off waivers after being released by the New England Patriots was a good change of scenery for him, maybe this could be too. And, something tells me some team could want him for a late Day 3 pick.
If this trade ends up happening, and there is a chance it couldn't, this completely changes the way the Raiders approach the draft, especially with one of their biggest needs.
They were already working with a very mediocre cornerback unit and needed to draft another one in this draft. Now, they may definitely draft one, but maybe higher than any of us anticipated.
This could move up CB on their 2025 NFL Draft big board when it comes to needs. They may now prioritize CB in the draft far earlier, like the first round. There are guys like Travis Hunter, Jahdae Barron, and Will Johnson all in the first round that they could take, whether it's sticking at No. 6, or trading up or back.
And, it makes sense to do that and abandon Jeanty at No. 6 because the positional value of the RB position is much better in the second round.
There is so much to think about now, as this changes everything if it ends up happening.

The Raiders would ace the draft if they did that.
