D.J. Miller is among 22 former Chiefs players getting a second chance at professional football in the UFL. If you don't remember, Miller signed with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State following the 2024 NFL draft. The O'Fallon, Missouri native recorded 50 total tackles, one interception, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery in 2023 with the Golden Flashes. He mostly played the safety position with the Chiefs throughout the offseason, appearing in all three preseason games, but failing to make it through the team's 53-man roster cuts.

Miller was selected in the ninth round of the UFL college draft last year, so when the NFL didn't work out, he knew his next step. Now, playing alongside fellow former Chiefs players, DE Breeland Speaks and S Tyree Gillespie, Miller has made UFL history. After securing an interception in both the second and fourth quarters during Friday night's tilt with the Birmingham Stallions, Miller became the first player in UFL history to record two interceptions in a single game.

The Michigan crowd even broke into a "Miller!" chant after his second interception.

Unfortunately, the Panthers' offense is not as dominant as their defense. They could not capitalize on either of Milller's two interceptions, ultimately falling 21-12 to the Birmingham Stallions in Week 2.

Michigan seems to be the UFL team where former Chiefs players go to find the most success. Last year, former 2018 second-round pick Breeland Speaks was named the UFL's Defensive Player of the Year while playing for the Panthers.

Miller is having the start to the year he needs to have to earn another opportunity in the NFL after his stint with the Panthers in the UFL. Perhaps he'll be given a shot to play cornerback instead of safety this time.
