One of the most fun things about the NFL Draft every year is seeing the draft hats that the draftees will wear on stage every year. It's a big deal for these guys. Such a big deal that they've added a point off stage where you get to put on the hat and then look at yourself in the mirror, and they film that and put it on TV.
New Era officially dropped the hats on Friday, and now we know what they're going to look like. Here is the hat the Lions rookies will be rocking.

Ahoy, Lions fans! Did the Beach Boys make these? I know Lions fans really want an edge rusher in this year's draft, but they'll have to settle for a ship captain instead. The good news is that the captain will be able to officiate your wedding on his boat if you're looking to elope.
In all seriousness, what is this? I get that the NFL Draft will be taking place in Green Bay and therefore right near the water, but it just doesn't make much sense to the rest of the world. Maybe the Packers hat could have had some sort of nautical theme, but does the Lions too?
You'll also notice that each hat has a pin that correlates to the city in some way. Like the Ravens hat has a crab on it because Maryland does crab cakes and football. The Browns have a guitar since the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland. The Lions get a wheel because it's the Motor City. It makes sense, but it's ugly and unnecessary to have pins on hats.
If you're interested in purchasing one of these hats or one of the variations they're selling, you can find them here.
