The 2025 NFL Draft is inching closer and closer and the Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of needs to address, especially on defense.

However, sometimes reaching for needs isn't the best route to go when it comes to the draft. Instead, selecting the best available player, no matter the position, is a better option.

That's what A to Z Sports' draft expert Adam Holt has the Eagles doing with their first-round pick at No. 32 overall in post-free agency 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Holt knows wide receiver isn't a top priority for the Eagles heading into the draft, but if Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden is still on the board, the Eagles shouldn't pass him up.

32. Philadelphia Eagles: Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

Yes, this is a fall for Golden, relative to recent mocks. That being said, there are only so many first-round picks, and the amount of teams with major WR needs has decreased in recent weeks. For the Eagles, they get the speedster out of Texas who won't have too much pressure on himself behind A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith to start his pro career.

Golden started his college career at Houston before transferring to Texas in December of 2023.

He had one successful season at Texas and declared for the 2025 NFL Draft following the Longhorns' playoff run.

"That was my end goal, was to make it to the next level, " Golden told reporters at the NFL Combine. "Just having the foundation that I had and the coaching staff that was here at the University of Texas, they put me in a position to go and follow my dreams. They changed my life tremendously."

In his lone season with the Longhorns in 2024, Golden set career highs in receiving yards with 987 and touchdowns with nine, averaging an impressive 17 yards per catch.

Golden only continued to impress during the pre-draft process at the NFL combine where he finished with a 4.29 time in the 40-yard dash for best among wide receivers and overall second-fastest time at any position.

The Eagles have a pretty crowded wide receiver room starring A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but if Golden lasts until pick No. 32, he would be considered a first-round draft steal.
