Alabama continues to chase after top 2026 recruiting class talent as they've entered the "finalist" stage for well over a dozen top prospects in this coming recruiting cycle. Kalen DeBoer and his staff did a phenomenal job closing when it counted last summer and it already looks like they're set to repeat if things continue trending in a positive direction.

This week the program seemingly got some more good news on the recruiting trail as one of their most important targets in the country had a great visit in Tuscaloosa.

Ezavier Crowell, Elite RB Recruit

Ezavier Crowell has been a name swiftly rising up recruiting boards for several months now as he put up his second consecutive 2000-yards-from-scrimmage season last fall. When it became abundantly clear to Crowell and his camp that he was on the five star track for the class of 2027 he decided to reclassify to 2026, graduating early so he could get on campus (and subsequently to the NFL) faster.

Now, after a rush of courtship from a handful of blue blood programs Alabama seems to be closing in on landing Crowell. Robert Gillespie, the running backs coach for Alabama just hosted Ezavier Crowell for dinner this week. Then Crowell sat in on a spring practice Tuesday with the Crimson Tide.

This visit brings Crowell's unofficial physical meetings tally with Alabama near double-digits. He's met with the staff over a half dozen times in the last year, which is more unofficial visits in that span alone than any other program in the nation (according to On3 Sports) has ever had with him at any point throughout his recruitment.

Crowell is still set to officially visit with Auburn, Florida State, and Texas, who have been pursuing him significantly (especially since his reclassification), but the heavy favorite to land him should be Alabama. They'll likely need him to play a huge role right away too.

Alabama lost their best running back to the Transfer Portal this offseason in Justice Haynes (now with Michigan). Their 2025 starter and most productive returning running back Jamarion Miller will almost certainly be out of eligibility after this fall. There's a great chance that Ezavier Crowell shows up in 2026 and is immediately the best running back on the team given his balanced skill set as both a runner and receiver.

Alabama fans should just hope that Kalen DeBoer closes the deal here. If so, the Alabama offense could look closer to some of the Nick Saban teams again here soon.
