- 2024: OT Patrick Paul (2nd)
- 2021: G/C Liam Eichenberg (2nd)
- 2020: OT Austin Jackson (1st), OG Robert Hunt (2nd), OG Solomon Kindley (4th)
Daniel Jeremiah sends Dolphins odd prospect in NFL Mock Draft
That need on the offensive line remains and the Dolphins need to find a way to fix it. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah agrees, sending them Alabama OG Tyler Booker in his latest mock draft.
Booker was a rock in the middle of the Alabama offensive line and he would provide a much-needed upgrade in Miami.
Jeremiah is right that Booker would be an upgrade on the offensive line, but it would come at a cost. Booker doesn't fit what the Dolphins want to in the slightest.
When writing my scouting report on Booker from a Minnesota Vikings perspective, it was clear that he doesn't fit the scheme. Why does that matter with the Dolphins? They run a very similar style of offense.
Booker is a fascinating prospect. He is one of the best interior offensive linemen in the NFL Draft and his strength profile is incredible. With that said, the deficiencies are ones that could take him off the Vikings' draft board.
When you run an outside zone scheme like the Vikings do, your interior offensive linemen need to be able to move well and climb to the second level. Those elements aren't what Booker does well. It's a very poor scheme fit.
Would the Dolphins be willing to shift their philosophy to bring in Booker? That would be a shocking change of events for the Dolphins, as head coach Mike McDaniel is fully entrenched with his scheme.
