It appears as though the creators of the popular video game MLB The Show consider the Tennessee Volunteers to be among the best in all of college baseball.

Major League Baseball's Twitter/X account announced on Tuesday that the Vols will be one of just eight college baseball programs to be included in MLB the Show 25.

MLB notes that "[p]layers have the choice to choose from 8 high-powered college programs or go directly to the minor leagues".

Hard to argue with Tennessee being a "high-powered program", considering the Vols are defending national champions.  However, Tony Vitello's good works over the last four seasons clearly have caught the attention of the video game designers and Major League Baseball.

The Vols made the College World Series in the 2021, 2023, and 2024 seasons, winning it all last year. They were the SEC regular season and tournament champions in the one year they didn't make it, earning the #1 overall season in the 2022 tournament.

Players will have the option of creating a player and starting from the high school level, able to move up to college baseball or make the direct jump to the minors, as many players do in real life.

It's not clear yet if the game will have realistic stadiums and other accurate aspects of their respective programs.  However, for those Vol fans who enjoy the game and are looking for another reason to play, taking control of a player wearing Tennessee orange would be a pretty nifty thing.
