The call finally happened for former Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Jared Allen, as he was announced as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2025.

It's about time that Allen got elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is one of the best pass-rushers of his generation. Allen's 136.0 sacks in his career are impressive, as are his 22.0 sacks (2nd in NFL history) and 4 safeties (1st in NFL history).
Jared Allen could give the Vikings an extra game
Allen's induction is going to be a huge event ahead of the first full week of preseason games. It also means that the Vikings could get an extra game.
The Vikings are one of a few teams that are now eligible for the Hall of Fame game.
- Minnesota Vikings: Jared Allen
- Green Bay Packers: Sterling Sharpe
- Los Angeles Chargers: Antonio Gates
- Philadelphia Eagles: Eric Allen
The Vikings have a long history of playing in the Hall of Fame Game, having played in the game four times since it began in 1963
- 1970
- 1982
- 1997
- 2015
Playing in the Hall of Fame game can be viewed in two different ways. You can see it as your team now has to play an extra game. However, the players that get to play in the game are the ones on the back end of the roster and they are the ones that you want to see.
It's a net positive for the Vikings to be able to play in this game if they were to be chosen. There will be extra live reps for the coaching staff and front office to identify which players are worth retaining on the 53-man roster and practice squad.
Anytime you can get more data points to build out your roster the better, and they would be able to thank Allen for that.
