The 2026 recruiting class had a chance to be the best under Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman so far. Riding the momentum from the team’s 14-win season and National Title appearance, there are a lot of talented recruits who have the Irish high up their lists. That includes a pair of teammates in Garner (N.C.) South Garner defensive end Ebenezer Ewetade and offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko.
These two teammates, who are also very good friends, have plans to make several school visits this offseason. That includes Notre Dame, where they will be making an official visit on June 20-22. Both have quickly become priorities for the Irish in the 2026 class.
Notre Dame already holds three offensive line commitments in the class from Tyler Merrill, Ben Nichols, and Sullivan Garvin. While a really impressive class, all three players project inside on the next level. That leaves a massive need for an offensive tackle in the group, and Ogboko could fill it.
At 6-6 and 280 pounds, Ogboko is considered the No. 21 overall player in the 2026 class according to 247Sports. He has been pursued by some heavy hitters in college football. That includes the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson among many others. The Irish are very much in this one but will have to beat out the Bulldogs, where his older brother signed in the 2024 class.
Ewetade is a newer name to the EDGE board but one that the Notre Dame staff is very excited about. At 6-3 and 225 pounds, Ewetade is a very gifted pass rush prospect. He is rated as a four-star player, the No. 195 overall player, and No. 16 EDGE according to Rivals.
There is a heavy interest in the North Carolina standout, which isn’t overly surprising based on his film. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Miami, Florida State, South Carolina, Louisville, NC State, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Duke, and Wake Forest among others. It won’t be easy but Notre Dame is trending quickly.
