There are few success stories like that of Devlin "Duck" Hodges.

A small school QB who went from undrafted to starting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hodges captured the hearts of many during his time in the Black and Gold.

And now, he's captured the heart of one of the biggest names in all of music…

Duck Hodges gets engaged with Grammy award-winning artist Lainey Wilson

Hodges and Wilson made it official in an Instagram post over the weekend, announcing that the two will be tying the knot after being together for some time. For a player who probably never thought he would be starting in the NFL, even this score passes up the TDs he threw with the Steelers.

A six-game starter in 2019, Hodges was merely a name on the depth chart before injuries ravaged the QB room and put Ben Roethlisberger on the mend before his final two seasons.

Hodges ingratiated himself well into the Steelers culture given his happy-to-be-here persona in the locker room and I don't give a damn attitude on the field. A joyful player who ran with the opportunity, he finished 3-3 as a starter that season, completing 62.5% of his passes, throwing for over 1000 yards, and tossing five TDs and eight interceptions.

So the 28-year-old who was known for slinging it all over the field at Samford sure has come a long way. Lainey Wilson is a Grammy award-winning artist and a country music sensation across the globe.

Hodges is an Alabama native, while Wilson is from Louisiana, so it seems that if those two could overcome that kind of rivalry, then they're perfect for each other.

Almost like watermelon and moonshine.
