Pro Football Focus dropped their end-of-the-year grades for each position and Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean finished ranked the highest among all CBs in the NFL.
DeJean, whom the Eagles originally traded up for in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, received a grade of 86.3.
He was a Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist after he racked up five pass breakups and held his opponents to an impressive 50 total receptions.
However, his most memorable play came during the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX win when he intercepted Patrick Mahomes and returned it 38-yard touchdown.
Fellow rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell and Eagles' 2024 first-round pick finished the year ranked 7th on PFF's list with a grade of 79.1.
Eagles Didn't Think They Would Get DeJean
In a video that came out following the draft, fans were able to see that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman didn't believe they would land DeJean.
The Eagles were all-in on DeJean at the start of Day 2 of the NFL draft and already had planned to trade up to get him. But then the Los Angeles Rams traded up with the Carolina Panthers and Roseman thought his plans were crushed.
"Ah, that's it," Roseman said, believing the Rams would select DeJean at No. 39.
But instead, the Rams picked defensive tackle Braden Fiske.
Roseman didn't hold back his excitement. 'Yes!," he said as he got on the phone with Peters to trade up for DeJean at No. 40.
While the trade didn't work out exactly like Roseman would have hoped, DeJean was widely projected as a first-round pick going into the draft, so he was considered a steal on Day 2 and an automatic win for the Birds.
"Cooper, it's Howie Roseman brother," Roseman said on his draft call with the Iowa standout, "You're a f—— Eagle. Let's go! You sat way too long."
