Rumors have been flying about the future makeup of the Oregon Ducks quarterback position over the last couple months. First, Oregon lost 2025 top recruit Jaron Keawe-Sagapolutele, who joined the program and then immediate transferred to UCLA. Then the Ducks lost out on 4-star 2026 recruit Jonas Williams, who flipped his commitment to USC.

All of that could be put to bed in an instant with one signing, though, and Dan Lanning is trying to make that a reality. Jared Curtis, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class, is down to two schools, choosing between the Oregon Ducks and the Georgia Bulldogs.

In the past, the choice would have pretty easily gone to Georgia. Back when Oregon was playing in the Pac-12, elite talents knew their road to success, notoriety, and development for a future in the NFL were less likely in the Pac-12 than they were in other major conferences like the SEC and the Big Ten.

All that changed last season. Now, Oregon is building an elite program that resides in the Big Ten and has every chance of competing on the national stage as Georgia does. Add in Oregon's facilities, financial backing, and elite coaching, and Oregon is becoming a juggernaut on the recruiting trail.

The Ducks being able to land the top wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class, Dakorien Moore, was a huge indicator that the Ducks are here to play. A quarterback wants development with great coaching, a great system, great weapons, and a great offensive line.

Oregon now offers all of that. Will Stein's system has proven to be very quarterback friendly, with each of Oregon's last two starting quarterbacks being named Heisman Trophy finalists. Oregon has a great opportunity to continue to prove that "That Team Out West" needs to be taken seriously.
