According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Chiefs LT Josh Simmons has signed a standard four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $14,675,353. His agents, Drew Rosenhaus, Robert Bailey, and Oliver Chell, negotiated the deal. There isn't much room for negotiation on these deals, as first-round draft picks typically all have fully guaranteed contracts nowadays.
Of course, Chiefs fans are now probably worrying about Simmons' second contract, as they know Drew Rosenhaus represents him.
Chiefs sign first-round draft pick Josh Simmons to rookie contract
Simmons, picked out of Ohio State at No. 32 overall, is expected to compete for the left tackle job in Kansas City. He is currently participating in individual drills during rookie minicamp as he recovers from a patellar tendon injury suffered during his 2024 season with the Buckeyes. He suffered the injury in October, but he's expected to recover fully from the injury and be ready to participate in complete capacity come training camp in late July.
Simmons is the third Chiefs draft pick to sign his rookie contract, alongside LB Jeffrey Bassa and RB Brashard Smith. Second-, third-, and fourth-round picks DT Omarr Norman-Lott, DE Ashton Gillotte, CB Nohl Williams, and WR Jalen Royals remain unsigned. Typically, those middle rounds have a bit more room for negotiating guaranteed money and contract structure, which means they take longer to wrap up. That said, gone are the days of rookie contract holdouts and it's only a matter of time before the entire rookie draft class is under contract in Kansas City.
