Saquon Barkley is receiving a lot of backlash for his decision to play golf with President  Donald Trump ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House.

The running back was photographed at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey and then was seen exiting the President’s personal helicopter back in Washington D.C.. He is also reported to have flown on Air Force One.

After getting off the helicopter, Trump then went over to reporters and praised Barkley.

“What a nice guy” he said. "I wanted to race him, but I decided not to do it.”

Because of all this, Barkley has received a lot of criticism. And he decided to respond to it on Monday morning. The Eagles star took to X, formerly known as Twitter, defending his decision and reminding everyone that he also golfed with another former president recently.

"lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT. Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day 😂," Barkley posted on X.

This comes after Philadelphia's quarterback Jalen Hurts dodged a question on the red carpet for the 2025 TIME 100 gala in New York City about whether he will be going to the White House with his team.

"Um," he simply responded, not giving anything away.

In 2018, the Eagles made the decision to not visit the White House after their Super Bowl win. However, this time around, they officially accepted the invitation and are making the trip to visit with Trump.
