The Philadelphia Eagles will be visiting the White House on Monday, but they will be without a prominent member of their team.
NBC News' White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor reports that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will not be joining his team at the White House to visit with President Donald Trump.
"The White House says Hurts and other players who can’t attend had 'scheduling conflicts,'" Alcindor wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
This comes after Hurts dodged a question on the red carpet for the 2025 TIME 100 gala in New York City about whether he will be going to the White House with his team.
"Um," he simply responded, not giving anything away.
And with that, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told reporters that players aren't required to attend.
“Our culture is that these are optional things,” Lurie said. “If you want to enjoy this, come along and we’ll have a great time and if you don’t, it is totally an optional thing.”
Among those who will be attending is Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who was spotted golfing with Trump prior to the team's visit. He was photographed at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey and then was seen exiting the President’s personal helicopter back in Washington D.C.. He is also reported to have flown on Air Force One.
After getting off the helicopter, Trump then went over to reporters and praised Barkley.
“What a nice guy” he said. "I wanted to race him, but I decided not to do it.”
