Tennessee Vols defensive back Jakobe Thomas officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, just a few days after UT defensive back Boo Carter suggested that Thomas would be returning to Rocky Top in 2025.

Thomas, who started his career at Middle Tennessee State, transferred to Tennessee ahead of the 2024 season.

During his lone season with the Vols, Thomas totaled 22 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.

Thomas played 263 snaps for Tennessee in 2024 and he was expected to see plenty of action for the Vols in 2025.

On Monday, 247Sports' Chris Hummer reported that Thomas will take visits to a pair of ACC programs this week — the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida State Seminoles.

Florida State is a destination that makes a lot of sense for Thomas considering that the Seminoles have already added three former Vols to their roster this offseason — defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins, wide receiver Squirrel White, and linebacker Elijah Herring (Herring spent the 2024 season at Memphis after starting his career at Tennessee).
