The Detroit Lions are getting healthy at the right time. They got linebacker Alex Anzalone back in Week 18 and got some cornerback help during the Wild Card bye with Ennis Rakestraw. Now they're more than likely getting running back David Montgomery back for Sunday against Washington Commanders.
Montgomery had a full practice on Tuesday and that’s a very good sign of things to come. He’s expected to play a big role Saturday’s game against the Commanders.
It seems as though that is going to happen. After the Lions clinched the NFC's first seed in Week 18, Dan Campbell and Jared Goff walked into the Lions locker room and told Montgomery he had two weeks to be ready.
The following Monday Campbell said that the Lions expect to have Montgomery back for the Divisional round.
We'll monitor Montgomery's status at practice all week and update this piece as things go along. This is very good news for the Lions if he's able to go. The Commanders are a team that has struggled to stop the run this season.
