The Philadelphia Eagles have made their mind up about resting or playing their starters for their regular season finale against the New York Giants.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles plan to rest key starters on Sunday.

"The plan to rest key starters Sunday vs. New York, including Saquon Barkley, per league sources. Resting up for playoffs. Barkley set to finish the year 100 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s all-time rushing record of 2,105 yards," Fowler reported via X/Twitter.

Unfortunately, this means that running back Saquon Barkley will not get the chance to break Eric Dickerson's 40-year-old rushing record of 2,105 yards.

Barkley was just 105 yards shy of reaching that great milestone.

“The way I look at it, if it's in God's plan, then it is,” Barkley said of getting a chance to break to record after Week 17's win over the Dallas Cowboys. “I'm not overly trying to go get it. I’m not scared of it. I would love to, but at the end of the day, also, we’ve got bigger things that we're focusing on, and we're able to clinch the division right here, whether we play next week or not. Rest, I'm fine with that too, because I didn't come here and sign here just to rush for 2,000 or break a record. I want to do something special, meaning special with the team.”

Win, lose, or tie the Giants on Sunday, the Eagles are locked into the No. 2 seed heading into the playoffs, so resting their starters for a Super Bowl run is very important.
