The Philadelphia Eagles lost legendary and seven-time Pro Bowl center Jason Kelce to retirement in 2024, however, his replacement, Cam Jurgens, filled his shoes better than anyone could have projected.
In fact, Jurgens filled them so well that he earned his own first Pro Bowl nod.
Jurgens, a former 51st overall pick by the Eagles in 2022, was consistent all season in both run blocking and pass protection and finished the regular season with an overall 67.1 PFF grade.
He was, however, more efficient when it came to blocking for the run and finished ranked first across the league in run-block snaps. That's no surprise considering Saquon Barkley, who was also selected to the Pro Bowl Games, racked up 2,005 rushing yards.
As if things couldn't get better for Jurgens, his first Pro Bowl also means he qualifies for a Level Three Proven Performance Escalator raise next season. The NFL's PPE policy is a special policy that helps those selected in later rounds earn more money for playing time and accomplishments.
Level Three PPE is reserved for former draft picks taken in rounds 2-7 that make a Pro Bowl in one of their first three years in the league. The Pro Bowl selection must be an original ballot selection, which is what Jurgens is.
This all means that Jurgens will see his base salary jump from $1,646,322 to the projected amount of $5,217,000 next fall. It constitutes a $3,570,678 raise and it will count toward the Eagles' 2025 salary cap space, which is currently over $30.1 million under a projected $272.5 million salary cap. Overall, Jurgens will count around $5,767,095 against the Eagles' 2025 salary cap.
Jurgens' extra payday is well-deserved considering he is a huge reason why the Eagles are locked into the No. 2 seed for the playoffs.
He joins five other Eagles who earned a Pro Bowl selection for their 2024 performance: linebacker Zack Baun, running back Saquon Barkley, right tackle Lane Johnson, left guard Landon Dickerson, and defensive tackle Jalen Carter.
