The season ended poorly for the Minnesota Vikings with their 2024 season with a 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Despite the rough ending, there is still some good news coming for the Vikings.

Running back Aaron Jones is one of three finalists for the 14th annual NFL Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. He is joined by San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Morgan Fox.

In November, all 32 teams nominated one player for the award and the finalists were announced on Thursday. Per the National Football League's press release, the award is given to someone who who is committed to helping the veteran community.

The Salute to Service Award is part of the NFL and USAA's year-round commitment to recognize and honor the military and veteran community. Through the Salute to Service initiative, the NFL and its teams come together to honor, empower and connect with service members, veterans and their families. The 32 award nominees from each team were announced in November and consisted of active and retired players, coaches and team executives and personnel who best demonstrated support for the military community.

The winner of the award will be announced at NFL Honors the week before the Super Bowl on Thursday, February 6th.
