The Cincinnati Bengals are far from the only team in search of a new defensive coordinator after firing Lou Anarumo.

The Indianapolis Colts are also starting that process about 112 miles northwest and will be interviewing Anarumo next week, per NFL Media's Tom Pelissero.

This is the first report of Anarumo securing an interview with another club, and it will definitely not be the last. Indianapolis parted ways with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley Monday evening.

Anarumo spent the past six years in charge of the Bengals' defense and while he only coordinated an above average defense once (according to DVOA) since Joe Burrow arrived in 2020, the 58-year old has commanded much respect around the league for piecing together units that have stifled the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen on multiple occasions.

Despite all the troubles he incurred with Cincinnati over the last two years, Anarumo will be coveted by teams in need of a new DC. The Colts are likely the first of many.

Indianapolis opted to retain both general manager Chris Ballard for a ninth season and head coach Shane Steichen for a third season. Much like it could be for Zac Taylor and the Bengals, 2025 could be an all-or-nothing year for both Ballard and Steichen. Landing the right DC will be imperative.

There have only been two reported interviews for Anarumo's replacement in Cincinnati with Patrick Graham and Demarcus Covington having talked to the club earlier this week. More will follow in the coming days.
