The Florida Gators saw their backfield have major changes in 2024. They were hoping to go into the year with Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne as their lead-backs. However, that didn't happen as Etienne transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Johnson was still good for the Gators and the emergence of Jadan Baugh helped elevate DJ Lagway to the next level. Even though Etienne doesn't play for the Gators anymore, he was still primed to face the Gators this year.

Trevor Etienne declares for NFL Draft

After facing the Gators just once on the year, Etienne won't face his former team again, as he's declared for the NFL Draft.

Etienne had a really good first two years for the Gators before committing to Georgia on Christmas Day in 2023. He ran for 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Gators, and followed it up with a season that wasn't quite as good with the Bulldogs, rushing for 609 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Gators have a long line of running backs getting drafted over the years, including Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Fred Taylor.
