The 2025 recruiting class is pretty much wrapped up at this point, so the attention for the Ohio State Buckeyes is now on the class of 2026.
Ohio State currently has four commitments for the class, headlined by five-star WR Chris Henry Jr., who was the first to commit in the class for the Buckeyes.
This class offers a ton of talent inside the Buckeye State that Ohio State may have trouble holding onto. Ohio State just made the final four schools list for a talented safety in their own backyard.
Four-star S Kaden Gebhardt attends Olentangy High School in nearby Lewis Center and is a big-time target of the Buckeyes. Today, Gebhardt revealed his final four schools including the Buckeyes joined by Penn State, Clemson, and Wisconsin.
Gebhardt is ranked as the No. 17 safety and No. 8 overall player in the state of Ohio. It is either one of the three Big Ten schools or off to Clemson for the central Ohio kid. Clemson just offered Gebhardt on Jan. 18 and the Tigers now have former Penn State DC Tom Allen calling their defense. Of course, Penn State has former Buckeyes DC Jim Knowles now too.
"I can really see myself playing for Ohio State, but I'm just waiting things out right now," Gebhardt said, via 247 Sports. "I'm not in too big of a hurry (to decide). I'll narrow things down to four schools pretty soon."
Ohio State is the favorite here since Gebhardt is right in their backyard, but the other schools are going to push hard for the talented defensive playmaker. At this time, there is no commitment date made for Gebhardt, who is preparing for his senior season this offseason.
