With great power comes great responsibility. The leaders of the Denver Broncos thankfully understand this.
Under the leadership of the Walton-Penner family ownership group, the Broncos are launching an initiative to distribute over 15,000 new helmets to every Colorado high school team for absolutely no cost.
The initiative is officially labeled "ALL IN. ALL COVERED." Its goal is to provide brand-new helmets from Riddell over the course of the next four years to every tackle program in the state.
Over the course of four years (2025 – ’28), the Denver Broncos Foundation will provide 15,516 brand-new Riddell Axiom helmets to cover every high school tackle football program in the state of Colorado. Axiom helmets come standard with InSite Smart Helmet Technology and work with InSite Analytics, an innovative coaching tool designed to proactively influence player performance and reduce head impact exposure. – denverbroncos.com
The quality of helmets is an important factor here. The Riddell Axiom helmet is the "highest-ranking Riddell helmet available to high school athletes" according to the initiative. It also comes standard with its own analytics tool—InSite Smart Helmet Technology—that collects collision data for coaches to analyze so better tackling techniques can be applied. Every team in the state will eventually be sporting the best protective headwear available to them for free thanks to the Broncos.
The Walton-Penner family took over controlling ownership of the Broncos during the 2023 season, a full year after a larger ownership group officially purchased the franchise from the trust that was led by Joe Ellis. Rob Walton (the son of Walmart founder Sam Walton) is the official controlling owner, but the day-to-day duties are handled by his daughter, Carrie Walton Penner, and her husband, Greg Penner. Carrie and Greg are leading "ALL IN. ALL COVERED."
Denver has the richest ownership family in the NFL. Expectations to utilize that wealth for the betterment of the team and the community comes with the territory. This is a phenomenal way for them to put their money to great use.
