The Ravens lost their Divisional Round matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but the week just got a lot worse for cornerback Marlon Humphrey. In last week's game, Humphrey hit Bills' quarterback Josh Allen for use of the helmet. The play didn't draw a flag (it should have), but the league levied a heavy fine against him.
Humphrey just got a $45,020 fine for the play. Fortunately for Bills fans, it didn't take Allen out of the game.
Intentional or not, Humphrey quite clearly led with his helmet, hitting Allen in the side of the head. It's exactly the type of hit the league is trying to take out of the game.
It didn't slow down Allen, though. The hit took place with 20 seconds left in the first half. The next play, Allen punched in a four yard rushing touchdown to give the Bills a 21-10 lead heading into halftime.
Allen played a strong and composed game, looking comfortable and taking care of the ball while making good decisions and logging two rushing touchdowns. . It was a complete game from the Buffalo side to punch their ticket to the AFC Championship Game on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Buffalo has a tough task ahead of them. The Chiefs have knocked them out of the playoffs in three of the last four seasons, proving to be the biggest hurdle in their pursuit of the franchise's first Super Bowl. Bills Mafia will be hoping Allen will be able finally take the team to the promised land this year.
