Buffalo Bills trade for former AFC Pro Bowler in proposed idea that would make life easier for Josh Allen
Buffalo’s wide receiver room is already being tested, and a proposed deal would add a proven veteran for minimal draft capital.
The Buffalo Bills are 3-1 to start the NFL season and have a chance to pick up a big win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. Buffalo may have to do it without one of its top wide receivers. It’s unclear whether WR DJ Moore will be out there against the Rams, and if he isn’t, that’s a big hit to the Bills’ receiver depth in an important game.
Moore has been dealing with a shoulder injury that has nagged him since Week 2. If the injury continues to be a problem, it puts some concern on what this season could look like for him.
Outside of Moore, the Bills have Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir as secondary weapons for quarterback Josh Allen to rely on.
However, if Buffalo is going to reach its full potential, it might need to add another wide receiver at the trade deadline. The last thing this team wants is to look back and regret not acting once the depth becomes too thin to overcome.
Bills land Jerry Jeudy in trade simulator proposal
A to Z Sports has a brand-new trade simulator, and it has found an ideal trade Buffalo could make to ensure it has reliable wide receiver depth for the rest of the season.
In the trade idea proposed by the simulator, the Bills would send 2027 fourth- and seventh-round picks to the Cleveland Browns for WR Jerry Jeudy.

Jeudy has two years of team control left, and his role with the Browns has diminished. Cleveland’s top two receivers are rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, which has pushed Jeudy down to the No. 3 receiver spot. That shift has led to a big fall-off in production. He’s averaging a career-low 16.2 yards per game and has just eight catches for 81 yards.
Jeudy may not be the player he was in 2024, when he made the Pro Bowl with 1,229 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Still, he remains a reliable target. Jeudy was a key player for the Browns in Week 4 when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football, hauling in a couple of key fourth-quarter catches. That performance showed he can still be a dependable weapon when called upon.
After his career year in 2024, Jeudy’s production dropped to 602 receiving yards last season despite playing in all 17 games. That’s a notable decline, but some of it comes down to the situation around him in Cleveland.
The 27-year-old is on a three-year contract that doesn’t make him a free agent until the 2028 offseason. [lHis $13.4 million cap hit in 2027 might be a bit much for the Bills. However, Buffalo could part ways with him after this season if it wished, since the guarantees in his deal are out of the way after the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
That flexibility makes the move much easier to justify. The Bills would get a veteran receiver for the stretch run without being locked into a long-term commitment.
An all-in move fits Buffalo’s current path
This would be an all-in swing for the Bills, and that’s exactly the path Buffalo is on. While Allen is the quarterback, the Bills need to keep pushing their chips in until they can’t any longer in their pursuit of bringing a Super Bowl to Buffalo.
Jeudy is a good route runner, and that’s what makes him a strong fit. Adding another pass-catching weapon who knows how to get open can help unlock this offense even further. Allen does a lot of his damage off-structure, extending plays and creating on scramble drills. A receiver who can find space and stay available for Allen when the play breaks down is the type of player who thrives in that setting.
The price tag also works in Buffalo’s favor. Giving up fourth- and seventh-round picks for a former Pro Bowl receiver wouldn’t cost the Bills a whole lot, especially considering what’s at stake this season.
How Moore’s shoulder holds up over the coming weeks will go a long way in determining how urgent this need becomes. If the opportunity presents itself before the deadline, this is a deal Buffalo should weigh.
