The Oklahoma Sooners are trying to bolster up their 2026 recruiting class as well as they can. And, that means going and trying to get some elite players — elite playmakers. They need as many as they can get, especially after a bad season on the offensive side of the ball. Now, they are going after one of the more elite wide receivers in the 2026 class.

Currently, the Sooners don't have any players committed in the 2027 class, and only three committed in the 2026 class, one of those being stud four-star quarterback Jaden O'Neal, who is doing his own recruiting for guys like Mason James and Kaydin Jones. But, those guys aren't committed, so the Sooners are still submitting more offers to other weapons.

Earlier this week, the Sooners offered standout wide receiver Daniel Odom a scholarship.

Daniel Odom is a standout wide receiver from St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California. He is considered a 4-star prospect. At 6'1" and 179 pounds, he has the size, speed, and skills to excel in college football, even as a junior right now.

Odom's abilities include strong releases off the line, beating press coverage, and using his strength to gain separation. His performances have earned him offers from top schools like Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

The Sooners brought in John Mateer this offseason to pair with his former offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle. Those two alone should be enough to get this offense looking better than it was last year. But, we could see Mateer gone after 2025, as he could be a prime NFL Draft candidate. If so, the Sooners will need to provide a quarterback like potentially Michael Hawkins, with as many weapons as possible.

Even if they will be freshmen in 2026.
