The Tennessee Vols are currently 16-2 as they enter the final month and a half of the 2024-25 regular season.

Tennessee is coming off a tough road loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores as they prepare for a tough stretch that includes a home game against No. 14 Mississippi State on Tuesday night and a road game against No. 1 Auburn on Saturday.

Ahead of those two games, Vols senior guard Zakai Zeigler was asked what message he has for Tennessee fans.

"We're in the SEC, we're in the best conference in the country," said Zeigler. "Night in and night out, we're playing the best teams, no matter who it is, it's not like we have any games where can just walk over anybody. And I feel like everyone in the SEC knows that. Every night it's going to be a really hard tough battle. But we're going to go out there and give it our all, we're going to do our best, and we still pride ourselves on being the No. 1 defense in the country. We're a tough hard-nosed team. So every night that we go out there, we want the fans to know that we're going to do what we need to do."

Tennessee's lost a couple of tough games in recent weeks, but that doesn't change that the Volunteers are a championship-caliber team.

If anything, the adversity that Tennessee has faced in losses to Florida and Vanderbilt is going to help this team be even more prepared for whatever adversities they're presented with in the NCAA Tournament in March.

Losses in college basketball are always going to happen. What ultimately matters is how a team responds to those losses. Tennessee has an opportunity to make a big statement this week against Mississippi State and Auburn.
