Who is Tennessee’s starting quarterback going to be on Saturday against Alabama?

That’s the question that everyone is asking this week.

And Vols head coach Josh Heupel isn’t interested in letting anyone know the answer.

“We’ll find out here through the week,” said Heupel on Monday when asked who will start at quarterback for the Volunteers.

On3’s Chris Low shares what he believes the quarterback situation will look like against Alabama

On3 college football insider Chris Low, one of the most plugged-in reporters in the business, joined 104.5 The Zone’s 3HL on Monday and he shared his thoughts on Tennessee’s quarterback situation for the Alabama game.

“To me, (George) MacIntyre — he turned it over three times (against Arkansas), he can’t do that — but he’s thrown the ball, and they’ve been a little bit more effective in the throw game (with MacIntyre). Until there’s a reason not to play him, you play him.

“And I understand (Faizon) Brandon is not 100 percent. I knew that after the Texas game. I told you guys that he was writhing in pain at the end of that game, and his shoulder wasn’t 100 percent. But it’s just hard to believe they’re going to go back to him as a starter. I think he will play this game. I think that’s what’s going to happen. I felt back in August they’d have to play both these kids at different points this season. Not a rotation, but at different times and different games, they would have to play both of them, and that’s the way it’s worked out. I bet it works out that way, in some shape or form, the rest of the year.”

Brandon, who is dealing with the shoulder injury, reportedly returned to practice on Tuesday, though it’s still unclear exactly how healthy he is.

No one is certain how Heupel will use his quarterbacks against Alabama, but it’s starting to sound like we could see both of them. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they use Brandon in some short yardage situations just to get his feet back under him after his rough outings against Texas and Auburn.
