The drama surrounding Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill hasn't subsided in recent weeks.  Since the team's unceremonious season-ending loss to the New York Jets, speculation has been swirling about Hill's future in South Florida after he all but said he wanted to head out of town

Well, one particular NFL personnel figure sees that as a possibility, and his landing spot is a head scratcher.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler posted an article with input from executives, scouts, and personnel managers across the league, and one nugget from that piece includes an unnamed NFC personnel figure projecting a trade for Hill between the Dolphins and their AFC East rival New England Patriots

Here's what Fowler had to say about the proposed trade:

This one is wild. But Hill's displeasure in Miami is out there after his Week 18 comments, and the Patriots hope to be on the brink of contention soon enough under new coach Mike Vrabel.

In-division trades are not as rare as they were a decade ago. It's largely about which team offers the best value.

"The Patriots are desperate. They need a guy, that alpha that can be friendly for Drake Maye," a veteran NFC personnel man said. "And there's a higher chance of the draft picks [Miami would receive in a trade] being higher than with a contender."

This is assuming the Patriots can't satisfy that need via the Bengals' Tee Higgins or another free agent. But New England hasn't been a free agency destination for elite pass-catchers in recent years.

After Hill produced his first sub-1,000-yard season since 2019, perhaps a package including a Day 2 pick would get a trade done.

There is a valid presumption that the Patriots could offer better draft picks.  They certainly are in a place of strength when it comes to their picks holding more value than those of teams who would be offering similar competing picks.

However, if the Dolphins want to do right by Hill (no indication they would), trading him to New England surely wouldn't be it.  Hill's made it clear he wants to play for a contender, and the Patriots don't appear to be ready to reach that level in 2025.  Not to mention, well, the obvious issue of the Dolphins having to face him twice a year.

We'll see in the coming weeks if the Dolphins can convince Hill that 2025 will be better than 2024.  Otherwise, we might see the Cheetah in a different uniform next fall.

It just doesn't seem like it will be with a Patriot logo on the side of his helmet.
