The college football season may have just ended, but the 2025 season is a little over 6 months away.

And for the Alabama Crimson Tide, it will be a pivotal year in the Kalen DeBoer era, with questions about his viability and who will be his QB atop a list of many.

But the oddsmakers in Vegas seemingly don't care when looking at the opening line for Bama against FSU in Week 1…

Alabama Opens as 7.5 point favorite vs. FSU

Alabama currently has a QB dilemma in Tuscaloosa. They are excited about incoming five star Keelon Russell at QB but he's a true freshman at the end of the day.

“It’s really cool when you think about the recruiting process with him,” DeBoer said of Russell back in December. “I continue to think of it as, there’s eyes that we have and feelings that we have when you watch the film that are one thing and jump out at you. But I think there are other details we saw on the film that when we saw him in person were verified…

"…He’s got the arm talent, is accurate, can throw different arm slots. Then also the ability as an athlete to make plays with his feet too.” Regardless, Vegas is bullish on Bama in Week 1 following one of the more disappointing seasons in recent college football history out of Flordia State.

After going undefeated in 2023, the Seminoles went a devastating 2-10 and looked nothing like the team that had a case for making the CFP in the final year of the four-team format.

But no matter how excited Alabama is for Russell and how confident they are in Ty Simpson, it can't be forgotten that they pursued former rival QB Carson Beck just a few weeks ago.

Backup quarterback Ty Simpson is likely the odds-on favorite to start the 2025 season for the Tide. He previously said he's ready to start, and there was some surprise when he opted against transferring out before this past year. Simpson will be a fourth-year junior in 2025.

So while the question of who starts at QB for the Crimson Tide is still up in the air, their debut as heavy favorites in 2025 is not.
