Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell was ruled out early with a shoulder injury in last week's divisional round win over the Los Angeles Rams, but his absence wasn't too noticeable after backup Isaiah Rodgers stepped in for him.

Rodgers was one of several backups who made an MVP play to help seal the Eagles' victory. His moment came in the fourth quarter when he recovered a fumble on the and returned it for 40 yards, which set Jake Elliot up for a 23-yard field goal.

On top of his fumble recovery, Rodgers finished the game with two pass breakups and five tackles.

According to multiple reports, Mitchell is expected to be available for the upcoming NFC championship game versus the Washington Commanders.

But if for some reason Mitchell can't go due to his shoulder injury, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is extremely confident in Rodgers' ability to step up again.

"He was a guy that all during OTAs and training camp was doing very well," Fangio said when asked how Rodgers has improved throughout the season, despite limited snaps. "Then he broke his hand and was out for a few weeks. Was slow to recover from that, meaning when he came back he wasn’t playing at the same level he was prior. But now he’s definitely back to where he was, and I have total confidence in him if he plays."

This is Rodgers' first year back after having to sit out of the 2023 season due a gambling suspension, and he has been far from a disappointment. As a key contributor on special teams and occasional defense player, Rodgers finished the regular season logging 26 total tackles, a forced fumble, and four pass breakups. He also blocked an extra point attempt by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Eagles are set to hold a walkthrough on Wednesday and release an "estimated" injury report late that evening. Depending on what Mitchell's status is, we may have to wait until Thursday's regular practice run through for more clarity on what to expect for the NFC championship game.
