The latest mock draft from Pro Football Focus has former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy landing with a former UT teammate in the 2025 NFL Draft.
PFF has the Cleveland Browns selecting McCoy in the sixth round (No. 217 overall) of the upcoming NFL Draft.
From PFF: McCoy is a big-bodied target at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds and brings added value as a blocker. His 75.8 run-blocking grade in 2024 ranked third among all Power Five receivers with at least 200 run-blocking snaps.
Former Vols wide receiver Cedric Tillman, who was teammates with McCoy at Tennessee in 2022, was selected by the Browns in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Tillman caught 29 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games for the Browns in 2024.
McCoy, who started his college career at USC, caught 108 passes for 1,356 yards and seven touchdowns during his three seasons at Tennessee (McCoy missed eight games in 2023 due to injury).
The California native participated in Senior Bowl practices last week before eventually dropping out of the event.
McCoy is a physical receiver who is an elite blocker, but his lack of speed will probably cause him to fall in the draft. The former Vol will likely be a day three selection or an undrafted free agent, which means McCoy will have an uphill climb to make a 53-man roster.
Former Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings had a similar outlook when he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. So while it'll be a battle for McCoy to make an impact in the NFL, history suggests it's not an impossible task.
