Who will be the starting QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025?

A question that the Steelers themselves don't even know right now, perhaps their answer lies outside of the league entirely.

Because according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the Steelers may have interest in a reigning college football champion…

Steelers could target Will Howard in the draft?

"Shocked might be a strong word, but I would be shocked if they would devote a No. 1 pick to a quarterback this year", Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sensed of the Steelers' plans at the position on Steelers Nation Radio. "But I wouldn't fall over if I saw a quarterback go in the third round, who they feel can be that guy behind Justin Fields if you will. I will tell you that in the last three days, I heard Will Howard's name as an intriguing guy both as a passer and a runner."

Howard gave the Ohio State Buckeyes their first national championship in a decade after transferring in from Kansas State last offseason. While he's not mentioned among the top of the QB draft class, he has a lot of talent and is quickly rising at the early stage of the process.

So does taking a QB on day two sound like such a bad idea? No. But by no means should the Steelers get enamored with a prospect like Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart, who while have desirable traits, are not true first-round quarterbacks by many measures in any given class.

And Howard fits the bill in terms of what the Steelers traditionally look for in their signal callers. Big and sturdy but with some of the new age mobility that Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have come to covet.

Expect Howard to be in play come April.
