The Florida Gators are well represented in Mobile, Alabama at the Reese's Senior Bowl with six current and former Gators in attendance:
- WR Chimere Dike
- P Jeremy Crawshaw
- DT Cam Jackson
- LB Shemar James
- EDGE Princely Umanmielen
- RB Trevor Etienne
Day two of practice is usually the biggest one, as the initial jitters are gone and they are settled into the environment and used to the flow of practice. Once they are settled in, you start to see players separating from each other. On Wednesday, two Gator alums did just that and made a huge impression on those in attendance.
Shemar James and Trevor Etienne shine at practice
Day two of Senior Bowl practice was a fun one. It was also a scorcher on and off the field. During the same American team practice, two Gators were exemplary on the field: linebacker Shemar James and former running back Trevor Etienne. They even went at it in practice.
James was also a standout on day one, showcasing a lot of what he did for the Gators: explosive movements with patient eyes and feet. Those were on full display during both practices, especially in running back receiver drills.
The other big standout was Etienne. He was a really good runner at both Florida and Georgia but was never asked to do much in the passing game. It just wasn't how either team liked to run their offense. He needed to answer those questions in Mobile and has done so with gusto.
Etienne has been explosive all week, displaying nuance with his routes and soft hands at the catch point. This rep from Etienne stood out in particular where he high-pointed the football over his shoulder.
Not only was the catch really good, Etienne displayed plus route running as well. Watch how he dropped his hips in getting open on a whip route.
Both players looked to be early day-three picks going into the week, but have shown a lot of positive traits that could push them into day two.
