Philadelphia Eagles CB Darius Slay has been a thorn in the Pittsburgh Steelers' side all week long.
Getting away with a blatant punch on TE Darnell Washington that caused an utter lie by an NFL official, he's not exactly the belle of the ball in the 412.
But he didn't ingratiate himself any better on Tuesday, when he credited former Steelers QB Kenny Pickett for the win on Sunday:
Slay Credits Pickett for Eagles Win
"We had to get the win for our quarterback," Slay said Tuesday on his Big Play Slay podcast. "Not [Jalen] Hurts. We're talking about Kenny Pickett. He's a great dude. Without Kenny Pickett, I think our defense, I don't want to say wouldn't be great because we want to be great regardless, but Kenny [has] been giving us a great look on scout team…
"…A damn great look, even when we play scrambling quarterbacks, guys with strong arms because he can do it all. He's got a strong arm, he can run around, he can make plays with his legs. He's done a lot to help us get ready and be ready for these games."
Regardless of your opinion on Kenny Pickett, those comments seem a little rich given what he showed during his time in the Black and Gold. If you want to argue that Pittsburgh pulled the plug on Pickett too fast, and did him dirty on the way out, that's fine.
But Pickett never had a big arm and wasn't really known for being a scrambler. He was drafted to be exactly what Russell Wilson has been thus far. A game manager who takes shots when applicable. Only he didn't have the anticipation and arm talent that Wilson has displayed thus far.
"We did that for you too, Kenny," Slay added. "Shout out to my boy, Kenny, for helping us prepare for this week, giving us tips about what to look for because he's been in that room with them."
