The New Orleans Saints have suffered some tough losses over the past two weeks. One of them came in a victory last weekend when Derek Carr suffered a broken non-throwing hand.

The other was the season-ending injury to Taysom Hill in the team's Week 13 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Hill suffered a torn ACL against LA. On Thursday evening, Hill made his first social media statement following his injury.

Taysom makes sincere post

Hill announced that he is having surgery for his torn ACL. His season is over, but he is looking forward to making a full recovery and return to the football field.

It's times like these that cause you to take a step back and reflect on so many things. It's no secret that I'm disappointed with the injury that I suffered against the Rams a couple of weeks ago. Despite the injury, it's given me an opportunity to realize how much this game means to me and what it has given me and my family! Words can't express how grateful I am for the Saints fan base and the way they have embraced me and my family. Sunday against the Rams was an emotional day, but there was no greater emotion felt than when I heard our fan base cheer as I left the field. Who Dat nation is really one of a kind in the best way possible and I thank you! As for my future, I will be having surgery to repair my damaged knee and step on the road to recovery. I am confident that through the help of an incredible medical staff I will make a full recovery. Thanks to everyone for all the messages and well wishes, we have felt your love! — Taysom Hill

Taysom is a fan favorite for a plethora of reasons.

He's a unique talent that provided so much for the Saints. On top of that, his effort was never doubted. Whether on special teams or offense, Hill played hard week in and week out. His motor always ran hot.

The loss of Taysom in the offense has been quite clear at times this season. He missed multiple games earlier in the season due to a rib injury and a puncture lung.

The Saints offense struggled mightily for much of that time, alongside starting a backup quarterback. Regardless, his impact is clear in Klint Kubiak's offense, and his increased production was a focus for the coaching staff. Now, they will be without him for the remainder of this season.

Hill remains under contract with New Orleans through next season. 2026 and 2027 are currently void years on his deal with the Saints, so he won't be on the roster then as things currently stand.
