Week 15 of the NFL season was full of losses for the Cleveland Browns. Not only did the Browns fall to the Kansas City Chiefs, but they lost running back Nick Chubb for the season as well.
Chubb broke his foot in the second half of the 21-7 loss to the Chiefs and it was another bad blow to the Browns. It has been a season full of bad blows to the Browns and this was the latest.
Kareem Hunt provided depth for the Browns last season when Chubb went down, but won’t be around to do so this year now that he is a key part of the Chiefs. Following the Chiefs’ win, Hunt was shocked to hear the news about Chubb.
“That is insane and I did not even know that,” Hunt said surprised. “I am going to pray for him. I know it has been a tough journey for him to get back. But if anybody can overcome it, and bounce back, it is him.”
Chubb and Hunt made one of the best running back duos that the league has seen over the last decade at one time in Cleveland. The two were the Browns running back room from 2019 through 2023. Hunt is having a solid season with the Chiefs and the opportunity opened when Isiah Pacheco went down injured. Hunt ran the ball well against the Browns on Sunday with 45 yards to lead the Chiefs.
With Chubb going down, the Browns will now call on Jerome Ford to lead the room again, who has been playing well lately. Chubb finished the season with 332 rushing yards and three touchdowns in eight games.
The future for Cleveland and Chubb together is cloudy. Joel Bitonio hinted that Chubb very well could end up in Cleveland again for next season, but that has to happen first with him set to be a free agent.
