2024 has been a bad year for the New Orleans Saints. They fired their head coach, and they're going through different quarterbacks every week it seems. On top of that, they lost big to their former head coach Sean Payton earlier this season.
New Orleans cannot seem to catch a break, and part of that has been self-inflicted issues from the players.
They do lead the league in something though, but the problem is it is the last thing you want to lead the league in. That's fines. The Saints have been fined more than any team in the entire NFL.

Eighteen is a lot, and there's still three weeks to go. This is not great news for interim head coach Darren Rizzi, who was charged with having to get this team under control in half a season.
Since his hiring, they've been more disciplined. The Saints are averaging just 5.4 penalties since firing Dennis Allen. Before he was let go, New Orleans was averaging about six penalties per game. That may not seem noticeable, but it can change outlooks of close games.
Two games under Allen totaled ten flags for the Saints, though. That is unacceptable. More penalties = greater opportunity for fines. Rizzi has cleaned up their play a bit, using accountability, but they could still improve in that area.
The good news for the players is that they don't lead the league fine amounts. That pleasure goes to the New York Jets.

The Saints are third. Still, that's a pretty good yearly salary that most Americans wish they could have. That's not a little bit of money. That's a house in a lot of places. A cheap house, but a house nonetheless.
There are three games left in the season and the Saints could totally clean their act up in them. It would be cool to not finish the season first in this category.
