Michigan upset Ohio State a couple of weeks ago and it derailed Ohio State’s chances at a Big Ten Championship. As good of a game as the Wolverines out on, one of the key talking points after the game had nothing to do with actual football.

After the win, Michigan attempted to plant a flag at the 50-yard line in Columbus. Ohio State players took exception to it like any team would and a full-on brawl took place. Pepper spray was used by police and it was just a bad look all around.

Now with Tennessee coming to Columbus — some may wonder whether the Vols would plant their orange flag in Columbus — if they can pull off the upset over the Buckeyes. Vols tight end Miles Kitselman was asked during an appearance on The Locker Room if Tennessee would plant a flag in Columbus following a win.

"No, there will be no flags," Kitselman simply stated.

Tennessee is playing this smart either way. Even if they were going to plant a flag, there is no even fort to saying that ahead of time. In a game like this; there is no reason to give the opposite side bulletin board material. The stakes are already high enough and there should be no extra motivation needed. Still, it is not something that you do.

Since the flag incident, Ohio state rep. Josh Williams introduced a bill that would make it a felony to plant a flag in Ohio Stadium. Now, that is far too extreme and the bill isn’t going anywhere. It just stands as a point to show how big of a talking point this has become.

Tennessee is just the first test in front of Ohio State if they want to win it all. The Buckeyes would need to win four games in all and just the first one will be played at home. Win or lose, there will be no flags planted in Columbus Sunday night.
