When looking ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft, needing defensive line help this year is a good place to be. The defensive tackle position in particular is incredibly loaded with talent. Recent mock drafts have had Buffalo addressing those needs, but one three-round mock draft from out own Travis May has the Bills taking an interesting route on Day 2. Here are the picks.
Pick 29: Walter Nolen, DL, Ole Miss
Nolen is a home run pick. The hyper-athletic defensive tackle can line up all over the defensive line, has incredible strength and burst, and finished the season with 14 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He's a disruptor up front that Buffalo desperately needs. Here's what Travis wrote about the pick in his mock:
Walter Nolen was the perfect fit for Ole Miss' number one pass rush in all of college football. He was a selfless disruptor who would clear wide open lanes for blitzing linebackers and stunting edge defenders by taking out two blockers in the same play. Nolen would relentlessly pursue quarterbacks, running backs, and any extra offensive lineman he could get his hands on to make an impact on every play. It's that kind of tenacious high motor play that would fit the Bills culture and scheme perfectly.
Pick 61: Evan Stewart, WR Oregon
This is where things get spicy, and I love it. The wide receiver room has been productive this season in Buffalo, but what the group looks like in the future remains a bit of a mystery. Unfortunately, rookie Keon Coleman has missed a chunk of time, so we don't have a full picture of what his upside looks like in Buffalo. That said, we've seen plenty of flashes, and with his frame, he profiles as the prototypical X receiver of the future.
Khalil Shakir is the volume king, lining up all over the field with offensive coordinator Joe Brady scheming him touches, but he operates primarily from the slot. Enter Stewart, a wide receiver that brings speed to the table that the group is currently lacking. He's a burner down the field and can operate out of a variety of alignments, something that makes him a good fit in Buffalo.
Pick 62 (via MIN): Domani Jackson, CB Alabama
Cornerback remains a need for the Bills. Christian Benford is emerging into a lockdown star, but with Rasul Douglas' contract set to be up at the end of the season and Kaiir Elam not living up to his first round draft billing, Buffalo needs to add more to the room.
