The 2025 Notre Dame recruiting class officially signed last week, welcoming 24 talented players to the Irish family. On the latest episode of Wake Up the Echoes, both head coach Marcus Freeman and general manager Chad Bowden joined the show to discuss the group.
Both of them were asked about the class, and for them to each describe it. Bowden chose an interesting word to lead the discussion, and proceeded to gush over the entire 2025 group.
“We have a violent group, a bunch of kids that are competitive, and they’re winners,” Bowden explained. “There’s a lot of start and stop type kids, guys that can change direction at an elite level. They’re violent at the point of contact and they are just winners. Those are the three traits that define what this class is. That’s what they are.”
That word “violent” has become a popular one in Notre Dame fandom since the pregame interview Coach Freeman gave before the victory against the Army Black Knights. It’s a word that perfectly exemplifies the style that most want to see for the Fighting Irish. That physical and relentless style is something that fans can easily fall in love with.
Most have already written off the 2025 recruiting class, and seriously underrated the group after a meh finish and the loss of quarterback Deuce Knight. Don’t tell that to either Freeman or Bowden, who are extremely high on the group. That segment should have a lot of fans excited. It is a talented group that has a chance to continue to build up the roster.
